I had the pleasure of having my fellow “elf” friend Jess, a professional photographer, cross-fitter, mountain biker, and extreme plank enthusiast, take photos of me throughout my Ironman Coeur d’Alene weekend. She is my friend Jen’s sister-in-law…. or aunt… or maybe even her niece… I really have no idea. Anyways, we share many similar interests including the movie “Elf”. Jess has houses all across America, in each one a 70″ plasma television.
I was bugging her for several months to visit me during Ironman Coeur d’Alene weekend. After insistent nagging she finally gave in. It worked out perfectly. Jess and her husband, Ryan, were traveling across the country, and timed their trip to visit us in Idaho.
Jess, Ryan, and Rogue (my best friend) arrived Friday, and stayed in our rental house.
Friday night, we went hiking on Tubbs trail, a path along Lake Coeur d’Alene. There, she captured the best awkward family photo ever! Jess tried to teach me all these fancy modeling techniques (i.e. the flick of the jacket trick). I think she was just trying to make me look like a fool.
Saturday, we walked around at the Ironman expo. Then, we rode and ran around our house so she could take more pictures. These turned out great!
Sunday, Jess and Ryan spent all day spectating at Ironman Coeur d’Alene. Ryan was the “time tracking” guy who calculated where/when he’d see us on the course next; Jess took the pictures. I know from first-hand experience that Ironman spectating can be an exhausting task and I thank them for being out there for several hours supporting us.
HUGE thanks to Jess, Ryan, and Rogue for making the trip out to Coeur d’Alene. Hanging out with them really helped keep my nerves down before the race, and the professional pictures Jess took were an added bonus!
They also went to visit my parent’s home in Seattle during 4th of July weekend!
Jess is a very talented photographer and I highly recommend her for your upcoming race events.
If anyone is interested please email her at camacho.jess@gmail.com and follow her on Twitter (jessicamacho).
She is a nice elf and she likes smiling. Smiling is her favorite.
Thanks again Jess! I love you, I love you, I LOVE YOU!!!
My favorite pics….
Elliot! Thanks for the kind words and spotlight post. I appreciate it! We had SO much fun hanging out with you and watching you race. I had MEGA fun photographing you. Looking forward to more events…and more photosessions.
